Current Openings:
Hello! We take edit-side interns specializing in news, A&E and food — A&E is full for the spring at the moment, but we're always taking applications if you're interested in being an intern at City Paper in the summer or beyond. We're looking for a few good men and women who:
- Can already write at a very high level, both technically and voice-wise
- Are funny, critical, opinionated, hungry, curious, mildly obsessive, perceptive, quick to learn, willing to confront fear of awkwardness
- A&E: Keep up with local music, arts, and other stuff going on in the city
- News: Are persistent, have an interest in city news and, ideally, have at least a little experience reporting for a college paper
- Food: Keep up with the local food scene and love trying new things, dig blogging
We're hoping to find people who can come in for at least a few hours on either Mondays or Tuesdays and a few more hours on one other day a week, but we’ll make it work for the right person. The baseline internship stuff is unpaid, as this is 2013, but longer freelance pieces are for pay and there are lunches every couple weeks where a staff member or other person of journalistic interest comes in to talk with you guys about pitching, freelancing, hustling, not pissing off your editors by accident — the for-real stuff about doing writing as a career that you may not get in school.

Everybody’s got that one insane story they can dine out on; tell us yours in 300-400 words. If you haven’t racked up anything appropriately epic, just tell us something funny that happened this one time. This is a judgment-free zone.

Philadelphia City Paper currently has two fall intern opportunities available for individuals looking to enter the marketing/advertising industry. The ideal candidate should be in his or her junior or senior year of college.
