Rolling hoopty-style in a '95 Chevy conversion van named "Craylene Dream," the Heels on Wheels Glitter Roadshow has traveled from Brooklyn to Minneapolis to put on performance- art shows that drive home the idea of "sabotaging misogyny and sexism." Co-producer Damien Luxe says their current East Coast tour features five "fiercely political, feminist, queer artists" (including Philly puppeteer Geppetta) who use cabaret-style theatrics, humor and "really good spandex" to add a feminist voice to a range of weighty social and political issues — everything from overcoming trauma to immigration. For the first time, their Philly stop, featuring Dumpsta Players regular Messapotamia Lefae and local radical-burlesque diva Mary Wanna, is all-ages so that younger folks can get in on the femme-boosting action. Bros? enter at their own risk.
