The Philadelphia Cartoonist Society is a ragtag group of artists who enjoy BBQ, beer and Pictionary victory. But that’s just their down time. This is a hard-working lot whose members design and illustrate comics, posters, greeting cards, book covers and just about everything else in dire need of a doodle. PCS is celebrating a new black-and-white comics anthology, Philadelphia Cartoonist Society Book 3: City of Lotherly Brove, whose release coincides with the group’s 15th anniversary. The afternoon festivities will include the activities PCS loves best: cartooning and BBQing.
Sat., Sept. 8, 2 p.m., free, Locust Moon, 34 S. 40 St., 267-403-2856, phillytoon.org.
