Bucking this nationwide trend of industrial decline, the people behind The Head & The Hand Press saw an opportunity for a locally based publishing house where writers are treated as artisans, while their books are given respect as handcrafted treasures. “We’ve seen a movement where people want to be connected to not just what they buy, but who they buy from,” says founder Nic Esposito. tying his project to Philadelphia’s past with a Kickstarter-funded writers workshop on Frankford Avenue.
