This weekend Meal Ticket swung by the newly opened Boot & Saddle (1131 S. Broad St.) and found an interesting piece of food intel, on a flyer posted in the restroom. Huh. Well, appetizing as that might sound the info is pretty exciting. Beginning this Friday, September 20th Boot & Saddle's kitchen is going to be open daily from 5 to 11 p.m. serving a menu created by none other than (wait for it... ) George Sabatino!
They B & S crew have brought exec chef Chris Davis (he's clocked in time at Barbuzzo and Popolino) on board to execute Sabatino's inspired menu of what he's calling anti-gastrobub fare.
We've got to say the preview menu looks pretty damned amazing with selections of "well respected vegetables" (think marinated butternut squash with apple-fennel salad and cashew brown butter) and "bread + butter + in between" items like a house-ground turkey burger with pickled long hots and smoked duck fat served on house-made brioche.
But if you're hungry at Boot & Saddle this week, no need to worry. They're serving up a limited menu of SMREs (Sabtino meals ready to eat, duh) including olive oil and sea salt popcorn, a fall vegetable medley of pickled and roasted butternut squash and potato served with a farro-corn salad and an organic chicken confit sandwich with almonds, pickled apples and celery.
