So KFC is selling deep-fried corn soup nuggets now (in Japan, obviously; all we ever get in this boring ol' country are lazy-ass ideas like subpar burgers with subpar french fries on top). But we're all sort of inured to kooky deep-fried stuff by now, right? I mean, county fairs have been frying Coke for years, and look: here's a blog post from last year about... deep-fried soup. (That guy wrapped his in wonton wrappers, whereas I'm perfectly OK not knowing too much about how KFC makes anything.)
If you prefer your corn with a side of holy-hell-that's-complicated, here's a BuzzFeed article quoting Food52 on a Bon Appetit recipe originally created by Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The corn looks good—a version of esquites, with roasted corn, jalapeno, lime and Manchego—if you've got a normal kitchen that doesn't somehow stay hot as Hades throughout the entirety of corn season no matter how hard you crank the A/C. Some of us are not so lucky. But hey, enjoy your deliciously overwrought corn, other people!
In the grand scheme of things, the phrase "egg coffee" is probably not quite as gross as the phrase "cat shit coffee," but it's up there. As a concept, however, this Swedish egg coffee sounds perfectly good.
Speaking of eggs, have you made Brad Spence's salted butter semifreddo yet? I finally got around to it last night and if you haven't tried it yet, you probably shouldn't. Not because it's not great! It's so, so great. ...until you realize that now you basically have access to unlimited amounts of salted butter semifreddo, which is something of a mixed blessing. If you have enough willpower to stop yourself from consuming what amounts to several raw eggs and a few tablespoons of melted butter in one sitting though, you should totally make this.
