Notes from the Weekend is a feature that sees the members of Team Meal Ticket compiling all the food/drink highlights uncovered during prime eatin' time, Friday to Sunday. We'd love to hear all about YOUR weekend eating adventures in the comments. Go for it! P.S. It's just Caroline this week. (View past NFTW installments at citypaper.net/notes.)

Inspired by an awesome slice of pizza al taglio from Pizzeria Vetri I got home on Friday and threw together a homemade variation. I mixed up a few bright green basil, gin and lime cocktails while the dough proofed. Before the pizza headed into the oven I topped half with yellow and red teardrop tomatoes, mozz and pecorino and the other with proscuitto and arugula. Served with a bottle of pizza-friendly lambrusco, it was a pretty good Friday night in.—CR
Whitebread kids may trumpet meatload and mac-'n'-cheese as comfort food, but mine is two magical words: Chicken. Cutlet. Either naked (the way I ate 'em at home Friday night) or smothered in gravy and mozzarella (the way I ate 'em Saturday night at Nino's, a lively Marra's-By-the-Sea in Cape May Courthouse), these thin, crunchy breaded planks always satisfy. Friday, I paired them with leftover polenta I enhanced with scallions and peas. Saturday, they joined veal and eggplant in Parm trifecta. Happy weekend for this kid.—AE
I took a field trip to Chinatown on Saturday afternoon to check out Xi'an Sizzling Woks, a place that had been on my to do list for quite some time. The liang pi noodles were totally amazing, sour and spicy with just the right chew and the cold soy beans and bok choy were set off with sesame oil. Dinner was a little bit of leftover pizza followed by beers at Medusa and The Dolphin.—CR
Sunday we shot home from the shore in time to half the second half of the one o'clock games, then ran errands and scooped takeout from Los Gallos. Terrific tacos al pastor, as always, and chicken quesadillas a big as trash can lids folded in half. Stop by and check out their new murals, painted last week by a local artist.—AE
On Sunday a bunch of past their prime bananas made their way into a loaf of not bad if I do say so myself banana-coconut bread for a late breakfast with a day drinking perfect gin and blood orange cocktail with a little bit of St. Germain. After a fairly lazy day spent on the couch I got back into the kitchen and made a very big batch of potato and beef empanadas and a corn and quinoa salad. A few glasses of rosé and the Breaking Bad finale and that was the weekend.—CR
