As fools move past April Fools’ into warm climates and heated social climbs (as if there are ladders or limbs worth climbing) stuff’s getting sticky, tricky and persnickety. Finally! Like DJ Robbie Tronco and Rahsaan’s new un-affiliation with Shampoo’s “Spark-it.” In Rahsaan’s mind, it’s a perceived change in format that made ’em leave Shampoo. He writes in an e-mail, “I think they’re aiming for Chemical Bros./Fatboy Slim-geared audiences with promo support from Y100-FM. Maybe they’re going after Maui’s crowd?” (Shampoo says its main dancefloor, Tronco’s former domain, will do with Y-100 what seems an alterna-rock-retro-Eurythmo-head thing, spun by Steve Singer.) Weirder is Tronco, a gay-audience saint, reducing (reduced?) to once-monthly spin sessions at Shaft, Shampoo’s Friday gay affair. (Circuit DJs who draw big crowds fill other weeks.) While Tronco started A-List Mondays at Glam (hosts: Shampoo lady Shannon XOXO, Justin Bruno, Cyoni) last week, Rahsaan and Todd Damon moved Tricky Disco Tuesdays to Glöbar only to cancel it. “Glöbar was not the right venue,” he writes. So while you look for Rahsaan at Proto and Crimson Moon, Glöbar gets overhauled now that Billy Weiss bought out partner Jimmy Binns after long legal wrangling. Weiss and family change Glöbar from confused straight bar to luxurious gay lounge Bump on April 20, with an opening party thrown by Dennio/Shaft’s Dan Contarino, who’ll bring “Beef or Drag” Sunday brunches to Bump’s refabricated, prix-fixe restaubar/after-hour juice-bar fold. While drama unfolds in Danceland, Crustyrockland got drama when Hindi Leather Tuscadero-esque Geeta Dalal and her girls (Linda Nezu, Noelle and Gloria from Meth 25, all-girl AC/DC cover band Satan’s Riff Raff and Sic Kidz, the latter who’ll play LaTazza April 5) laid claim to being the Bikini Bandit Band backing Dee Dee Ramone on April 6 at 1616 Locust. “Betty Whitetrash thought either that it was them or that they could spread rumors that it’s them -- which pissed me off royally,” writes Dalal, who added that she set the record straight at Tattooed Mom in Russ Meyer form drinking bourbon and confronting BWT in a lowcut jumpsuit. Wait! When did people start fighting over Dee Dee? Meanwhile, Pi Lam’s 24th annual Human BBQ, April 6, stars Mick Cancer and new bass recruit Noelle (the same Sic Kid mentioned above) in the pit before King Missile.
