Blond Ambition

Sing-along

Fishnets and Frank-N-Furter are fabulous and all, but there comes a time when we theatrical folks tire of doing the time warp again. Well, what better replacement for Rocky Horror sex aliens than a "girlie boy from East Berlin,'' better known as Hedwig, the tranny with a "1-inch mound of flesh?'' You heard us right: Rest those pipes and rent yourself a sexy li'l slip. It's time for a sing-along session with Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the greatest glam opera since well, Rocky Horror.

Philadelphia's finest extroverts first toasted the film two years ago at the William Way Community Center. This Tuesday's encore presentation promises a multimedia extravaganza of garish costumes and synchronized lip service that'd put Ashlee Simpson to shame. By the way, If you insist on tossing confections at the screen, please bring king-sized cartons of gummy bears. Hedwig fancies them so it holds so much more meaning than a tub of butter-glazed popcorn.

Large Marge Musical Movie Fundraisers hosts the evening, along with Sherman Community Arts Promotion. Large Marge last held a screening of Bob Roberts to raise money for The League Of Pissed-Off Voters. A portion of these proceeds benefits The Attic, a lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender/queer youth center (www.atticyouthcenter.org).

"I am in some way trying to end the Rocky Horror phenomenon," says Rich Wexler, aka VJ Large Marge. "No offense to those people, but I feel about it like I feel about Deadheads." He reckons there must be other songs with 70 versions you can collect obsessively, "and there must be other films that can be made interactive that don't involve Meat Loaf."

The Second Hedwig and the Angry Inch Sing-along Fundraiser, Tue., Nov. 16, 9 p.m., $5-$20 donation, The Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St., 215-573-3234.
