As creative director of the Baby Phat clothing line, Kimora Lee Simmons knows a thing or two about being fabulous. In fact, she wrote the book on it. Flipping through Fabulosity (Regan Books) made me feel less than fab, though, so I decided to present Simmons with three unfab scenarios and ask her how to cope.
Unfab Scenario: I'm in the gym, finishing up my workout, and I run into this hot girl. I haven't showered yet today, and I'm quite sweaty.
Fab Solution: Keep it moving. Say, "Oh I'm so embarrassed to see you now, I'm just finishing my workout, but what are you doing later?" You have to laugh at yourself.
Unfab Scenario: I drive a '99 Honda Civic. It runs fine, but it's hardly fabulous.
Fab Solution: I don't have to have the hottest, flyest car. I need a car that runs well. There are people who live in mansions and have a junker, and then there are people who live with their mom but have a Rolls Royce. That's not fabulous. I had a Subaru once, honey.
My cooking skills don't go beyond TV dinners and toast.
I'm not so good at making dinner, but I'm fabulous at making reservations. What you lack in one area, make up for in another.
