Jennifer Yaron, director of the F.U.E.L. Collection, keeps raving about how everyone at the gallery is "so energized" about its latest exhibition. Well, you'd expect nothing less, considering the show, "The Art of Can," consists of works inspired by or made from Red Bull cans. Famous for its high-octane get-up-and-go-go-go kick, Red Bull is a popular stimulant drink among Gen-X and Gen-Yers. Here, people of all ages and nationalities get creative with the cans works hail from the U.S., Russia and elsewhere around the globe. The show is part of an ongoing contest sponsored by Red Bull, which is open to anyone whose artistic spirit is sparked by the slim silver, red and blue containers. The results come in many shapes and sizes, and include a 4-foot-high beehive, a contemporary take on a Michelangelo painting and a life-size winged nymph. Yaron is rightfully stoked that her gallery was selected by Red Bull to host the exhibition and says the company's attitude is present in this showcase: "It is fine art," she says, "but it gives off a lot of excitement and fun, too."
Runs Oct. 20-Nov. 2, the F.U.E.L. Collection, 249-251 Arch St., 215-592-8400, www.fuelcollection.com.
