Wines, Canines and Felines with PINOT and PAWS
Fri., April 5, 6-9 p.m., free

The Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is bringing over some furry friends from its new location (100 N. Second St.) to Old City's PINOT Boutique for a night of puppy love. Sip a little vino, participate in a pet-themed scavenger hunt and consider the possibility of adding a member to your family. Ten percent of the evening's sales will be donated directly to PAWS. Sake Fest
Wed., April 9, 6-8:30 p.m., $55-$65

Support the Japan America Society (jasgp.org) the best way you possibly can — eating a bunch and sippin' on sake. Dishes will include a salmon, tomato and red onion ceviche from Haru (241 Chestnut St.), and Morimoto's (723 Chestnut St.) famous "tuna pizza." On the drinking end, don't overlook traditional Joto Sake and seize the opportunity to try the newest trend in rice wine — sparkling varieties. Lunch with Hiroko Shimbo
Wed., April 9, 12:30-1:45 p.m., $45

Hiroko Shimbo's The Sushi Experience and The Japanese Kitchen have made Eastern cooking traditions accessible in the Western home. This luncheon/cooking demo will feature dishes like eggplant with yuzu-miso sauce and barley miso soup with tofu. Shimbo will also show you how fix sushi. Don't forget to form the wasabi into a rose. Reception for Marshmallows: Homemade Gourmet Treats
Sun., April 6, 6 p.m., $45

Sweet and savory marshmallow creations from local cookbook author Eileen Talanian's latest will be prepared and paired with wine at this event at s Alison at Blue Bell. Domaine des Valanges, Macon Davaye will be served with shrimp salad with mango and curried marshmallows; grilled pineapple and bacon with ancho marshmallows should go nicely with a tropical Côtes du Rhone. Chaddsford Winery Expands
Fri.-Sat., April 5-6, noon-6 p.m., free

Chaddsford Winery is spreading its vines across BuxCo's Peddler's Village with its newly expanded shop. Celebrate their grand reopening (the space has doubled to accommodate tastings and classes) and get a sneak preview of this year's Spring Wine, a light, fresh white with an apricot sweetness that's offset by a burst of lime.
