The traffic and environmental nightmare that is I-95 hardly conjures up good thoughts. But acclaimed South Philly photographer Zoe Strauss is flipping the unsightly interstate on its head. Strauss, executive director of the Philadelphia Public Art Project, will be displaying 231 of her photographs (67 of which have never been seen by the public) on the cement posts underneath that highway. The exhibit, which she describes as a take on the "American identity," will mark the eighth year for her photo installation in this location. Strauss, who is working on a book set to be distributed later this year, calls her line of work "the most awesome job a person could have." Visitors to the exhibit will be able to purchase color copies of the photos for $5 in an area Strauss describes as a "truly open community venue." And in case you had any doubts, Strauss assures, "This is going to be the greatest thing you've ever seen."
