Eighth Annual Brandywine Valley Craft Brewers' Festival at Iron Hill Brewery
Sat., May 17, 1-5 p.m., $30-$35

Last year's Brandywine Valley Craft Brewers' Festival drew more than 1,000 guests and raised $15,000 for the Media Youth Center. This year's fest (held in coalition with American Craft Beer Week) looks to top both those figures. You should be sold on the lineup alone: Local beer aficionados can sip samples from area faves like Flying Fish, General Lafayette Inn, Nodding Head, Sly Fox, Tröegs, Victory and many more. The hosts, of course, will be pouring it up, as well — look for Iron Hill's Tripel, Vienna Red and Maibock as well as munchies like knockwurst, chicken fingers and burgers. Price of admission gets you a commemorative tasting glass. Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant, 30 E. State St., Media, 610-627-9000, ironhillbrewery.com.

Legacy Brewing Co. at Di Bruno Bros.
Fri., May 16, 6-8 p.m., $45

Legacy's Scott Braver is teaming with Di Bruno's to share and pair the Reading brewery's crafty crafts with queso galore. Taste Legacy's Midnight Wit with Cypress Grove's Humboldt Fog; the Belgian strong ale Euphoria with that same cheesery's gouda-style goat's milk Midnight Moon; and the Nor'easter with the Fourme d'Ambert, a rich cow's milk blue from France. Braver will also discuss the logic behind the pairings and the work that goes into creating their beers. Reservations required. Di Bruno Bros., 1730 Chestnut St., 215-665-9220, dibruno.com.

9th Street Italian Market Festival Outdoor Pasta Dinner
Fri., May 16, 6 p.m., $10-$15

The city's biggest/baddest block party officially kicks off Saturday morning at 10 a.m., but this year you have a chance to get an early start with this inaugural Friday night al fresco dinner. Merchants like Talluto's and Cappucio's have your red-sauce-on-pasta needs covered; after-dinner sweets and coffee come courtesy of Anthony's, John's Water Ice and Gleaner's. Ninth and Montrose streets, 215-545-4543, 9thstreetitalianmarketfestival,com/pastadinner.html.

Beer & Pork Dinner at Osteria
Tue., May 20, 6:30 p.m., $100

Brooklyn Brewery brewmaster and beer personality Garrett Oliver will drop by Marc Vetri's Osteria on May 20 to ham it up with an ambitious multicourse pork-centric menu. Dishes, which'll be served paired with Brooklyn brews, will include roasted baby pig, pork terrine, wild ramp ravioli with pig's foot ragu and more. Reservations required. Osteria, 640 N. Broad St., 215-763-0920, osteriaphilly.com
