Talking Lost with Devonte Hynes

RSS

Published: May 27, 2008

CP: So who dies next?

DH: I think Desmond is on his way out.

CP: Oh definitely — because he's stuck on the boat in the boiler room with the bomb. But I think Sawyer's going next.

DH: Oh my God. I think I cracked the secret of Lost. I can't say it.

CP: You have to. We're stuck here on the phone.

DH: OK. You remember the episode where Ben wakes up in Tunisia and he's zapping everyone with that baton, the man on the horse?

CP: Yes.

DH: Do you then remember how last episode before Ben goes into the orchards he has that baton and turns to Locke and says, "You're going to need this," then he walks off?

CP: Yes.

DH: Well I was watching the pilot this morning — the opening few seconds where Jack wakes up in the middle of the forest. And the black baton is there.

CP: That's pretty thorough viewing.

DH: Now. Watch it and look at Jack's face and his actions. They're exactly similar to the moves and the faces Ben made when he woke up in Tunisia. They wound up with the same cuts on the each others' right arms. They act in the same way. I think that pilot is about Jack going back to the island and not starting with the crash.

CP: Maybe Jack and Ben are the same person.

DH: Wow.
