McGillin's Oktoberfest
Through Oct. 4

While other breweries and bars make you wait for those seasonal fall beers, McGillin's is serving them up every day from now until Oct. 4, when they'll conclude the party with an outdoor German beer garden. In the meantime, you can down pints of Flying Fish's Oktoberfish, Paulaner's Oktoberfest and Stoudt's Fest along with classic German munchies such as mussels steamed in lager; pork loin with braised cabbage, apples and potato dumplings; and, of course, plenty of bratwurst. McGillin's Olde Ale House, 1310 Drury St., 215-735-5562, mcgillins.com.

Memphis Taproom Mystery Beer Weekend
Fri.-Sun., Aug. 29-31, noon

Memphis Taproom is unleashing an insane amount of beer to fuel your Labor Day weekend drinking needs. Over the course of three short days they'll be tapping 33 kegs — and it's your job to figure out what's in the glass. Adventurous imbibers will get ballots and have to guess what beer they're swilling, which could be anything from Unibroue to Russian River. The person left standing (or close to it) at the end of the weekend with the most correct guesses will be rewarded with Memphis Taproom merch, gift certificates from Philadelphia Brewing Co. and other breweries, and a swanky mixed six-pack of Westvleteren 6 and 8. Memphis Taproom, 2331 E. Cumberland St., 215-425-4460, memphistaproom.com.

Ortlieb's Prix Fixe and Jazz
Every Tue.-Thu., 5-8 p.m., $20

While jazz musicians serenade away, Ortlieb's will offer guests a chance to sample their fiery Cajun dishes with a two-course prix-fixe menu. Choose from starters such as beer-battered calamari with saffron-lemon aioli, and Louisiana crab bisque with bourbon syrup. Entrées include blackened catfish with sautéed oysters, and seafood-and-sausage-packed jambalaya. Reservations recommended. Ortlieb's Jazzhaus, 847 N. Third St., 215-922-1035, ortliebsjazzhaus.com.

So Long to Summer Food Tour
Sun., Aug.31, 3:30-6 p.m., $45

Instead of sulking about the end of beach days and sun-kissed skin, put a positive spin on the last of summer with this three-stop Philly food tour. At XIX, you'll get to sample fresh oysters, clams, scallops and mussels from the raw bar. Next up is Tavern 17, where mixologists will prepare three fruity cocktails. (Drink up, kids — piña coladas are as time sensitive as your white shoes.) Finally, at Chima Brazilian steakhouse, you'll chow down on a variety of grilled meats for a last hurrah Labor Day cookout. Call 800-979-3370 or visit cityfoodtours.com for reservations.
