How the Queers Stole Christmakwanzakah

Fri., Dec. 14, 10 p.m., $5, Tabu Lounge, 200 S. 12 St.

Mario Manzoni

“Live-singing hairy drag queen” and popular Philly gadabout Tammy Faymous (aka Alexander Kacala) is hosting this go-round of MixTape, the quarterly performance soiree benefiting a chosen individual’s gender-reassignment-surgery costs, put on by Boys Living in the Transition Zone (BLITZ) and Gender Reel. Along with her hosting duties, Miss Faymous says she’s performing alongside fellow drag honeys Alizeé Elegance (“an amazing dancer first and foremost”) and hip-hopper Ebony Fierce (“she’s glam, gender-fucked drag realness”), and Liberty City Kings will crank out some of their “always-crazy numbers.” So we get the “queer” part, but where does the “Christmakwanzakah” come in? “There will be some yuletide-themed songs, kissing under the mistletoes and naked Santas.” Oh, but of course.
