So how did Sarah Shafer, a radiant soprano who is still a student at Curtis, manage to snag Richard Goode, one of the world’s most revered concert pianists, as her accompanist for her Philadelphia Chamber Music Society debut? It’s the magic of Marlboro, the über-musical summer camp and mecca of chamber music where Goode is co-director and Shafer was enrolled. This recital is an homage to that world, in which the finest young students get to be colleagues with the masters. Goode will also play some solo music when he is not joining his young friend in music from the core of the art-song repertoire by Mozart, Schubert, Brahms and Mahler.
