Cardio with Obama

The Insider

My morning routine usually starts off the same way every day. Wake up, go to the gym, grab a coffee and go to work.

But when you get patted down by the Secret Service at the gym first thing in the morning, you know something's up. I hopped on my usual treadmill and put on CNN. The news ticker scrolled frantically across the screen, as footage of the President-elect was shown over today's topic — "Is Obama Black or Biracial?"

It wouldn't be long before I could ask the man myself, as he walked majestically across the gym floor in his track pants and sweat shirt. I did a double take, and soon after that, looked around the gym to see if anyone else knew he was here. Nobody seemed to notice.

But he hopped on the machine next to me and broke a mean sweat while reading a copy of USA Today and listening to his Zune.

What the hell do you do in a situation like that? Well, here's a list of things I did while simultaneously running next to Mr. President-Elect:

  • Cranked up the speed to show my feats of strength.
  • Stared at him for a good 4 minutes.
  • Watched him watch himself on CNN.
  • Smelled my pits. Just to be sure.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU TAKE A PICTURE?!?!" was the main reaction I got from friends. My beloved mother asked me to ask him for health insurance coverage. But as he walked away, wiping the sweat off his brow,  I couldn't ask for anything from the guy and was satisfied with him just being my president.

And OK, fine — I'll admit that I creepily savored his treadmill after he left.

UPDATE [03dec08]: Some clarifications on this Zune issue.

Yeah that Zune thing was weird. I guess Obama’s trying to help out the little guy (at least in the mp3 player world)

What were his secret service people doing while he was running?

yeah like is this true? seems really fishy i mean, no picture? I do hope he has a zune though.

So President-Elect Obama sports the Microsoft media player in lieu of the all-mighty Apple product. Good for him.

I’m not sure I believe this. Obama is a confirmed Mac user, and it isn’t too much of a stretch to believe he uses OS X as his primary OS, considering there have been articles on his implementation of iChat in his campaign. As far as I know the Zune is not Mac compatible, and even if he was dual booting it wouldn’t make much since for him to load Windows every time he wanted to sync with his music library. In addition, in one recent issue of Macworld magazine and on the Rolling Stone website, they had blurbs with Barack Obama telling what music he has on his iPod. I’m going to have to call BS, since all signs point to no; is the author sure it was a Zune?

Au contraire, we have many people in the Zunerama forums who use Zunes with their Macs.

The story sounds very credible to me.

Also, another reason he uses a Zune while working out: he was listening to CNN - presumably through the FM transmission that most workout centers provide.

A Zune player can pick those up, with its FM tuner. With an iPod, you need to buy and carry around an extra accessory to hear the FM.

Now I wish I had voted for him. If he is rocking a Zune he is not a lemming like the rest of them. The Zune really kicks the iPods butt! Radio, FM tagging to shopping cart, Wireless, DRM-Free MP3, MixView, 10 free tunes each month with ZunePass, etc.

The Zune is great for the gym because it has the built-in FM tuner so that you can hear what is on the TVs by tuning into the frequency listed beside the set. I have had one since day one! It is much better now and I think it’s great that they have made the main improvements through software, so even early adopters get the features without having to buy new equipment.

I’m with eggmuffin….who really cares? Obsessing with what music player the president elect uses is similar to obsessing with the latest news on Brittany Spears or any other celebrity. It just proves you have nothing interesting in your life, so you have to live vicariously through someone else. And I really wish people would stop talking about President Elect Obama like he is the second coming of Christ. I voted for him, but I’m not all over his shadow. I’ll wait to see how he does in office.

I can’t blame you for not having the nerve to speak up. Anybody who can come out of seemingly nowhere* and beat the Clintons and the GOP right out of the gates has got to have one hell of a presence. I’d have been nervous too!

Besides exercising the body, how about exercising the mind and take this to the bank! Gay Marriages are not agreeing to the bible…right? I agree! But what if gays started having babies through the website DonorPride.com and gay men married gay women? “Two Men & Two Women” couples married the opposite? Would that be ok in the eyes of the anti gay marriage act?

People rarely know of the fact that people who want to have a child and the benefits can be staggering but they don’t have to spend the large amount of money for the costs of ONE egg from an agent/cryobank/broker!
Last issue on the More magazine had an article on egg donors and surrogacy from a website owner who announced her website value being at 20 Million but having only 2 hundred plus members on her site from all the years of working in that field. This shows the fact that women who want babies spend an outrageous amount of money going through a broker. Having someone else judge the mental status of their donor.

DonorPride.com offers people a chance to correspond, evaluating Egg Donors, Surrogates and Known Male Donors, using their own judgment and taking ownership of all the eggs that are retrieved from an individual. Not having a stranger choose their future! Know for YOURSELF…who you are getting as a donor!

An extreme amount of females who go through a sperm bank are gay women. It’s sad to see a child growing up and not knowing where they came from. An eye opening Story is on the Video/News Link of DonorPride.com. Consider this story for those out there who just don’t know that they have options.

Kind Regards,

At least his the fittest president we’ve had yet. It’s good he likes to stay in shape. maybe he’ll work hard at getting the economy back into shape as well. It’s all about progress. Mac users aren’t always exclusive. I am an avid Apple user and yes I have an ipod. It was a gift. I actually wanted the Zune. Although I do have both a PC and an Apple at home. I wish I was cool enough to have had that happen to me. What gym?! And if you say 12th Steet Gym I’ll giggle a little.
