Breakin’ All the Rules: Jamie Foxx kicks off Philly stay with epic evening

We love watching big film productions come through town. The harsh lights. The late nights. The trucks blocking your street. Thanks, big film productions, for fucking up my parking. Oh, and the stars running rampant through town and tipping badly.
Last week, we got to welcome Law Abiding Citizen, F. Gary Gray’s vigilante flick starring film's most annoying thesp, Jamie Foxx, and 300 star Gerard Butler. This is the film director Frank Darabont was supposed to helm, but from the looks of the script, he just wised up. Anyway, the sightings have begun, and tipping has been rampant from all corners.
So Foxx and Butler have been spied at Parc for lunch, with Foxx at the Bellevue's Sporting Club later that night. That same evening, Butler and Gray supped at Del Frisco's under the watchful gaze of author Stephen King, who may have thought Darabont was still directing the Philly film and wanted to say thanks for Shawshank Redemption. Anyway ... since that Parc/Del Frisco's one/two belly buster, 300 star Butler's been out of sight, leaving Foxx to do the heavy celeb appearance lifting. On Saturday alone, he hit a private Wired 96.5 show with Ludacris at Electric Factory, wearing fly shades so no knew him. Then he made sure everyone knew him and got backstage to shoot photos with Luda and the whole Wired gang. Then Foxx hit Ms. Tootsie's to eat while another private party was going on and he hung with them. That’s right, folks — there's no privacy when Foxx is in town. Until he says so, that is: Apparently, Foxx wound up at G Lounge with several bodyguards, let no one near him and left by 2:30 a.m. Muthafucka didn't even start the movie and he's spread out thinner than skin on bologna.
Next up, bet a dollar he shows at the Free Library’s Parkway Branch Jan. 14 for the launch of its seventh season of One Book, One Philadelphia, which features Steve Lopez's The Soloist this time around. Foxx plays in the due-soon film based on Lopez’s memoir. Urp. Hey Jamie, don't bother Steve when he’s working. He’s crabby like that.
And you — people — keep up the Foxx sightings. Make the In Living Color cross-eyed twitchy face at him when you see him and tell him he just got Icepacked. If we can keep up with Foxx, he may just defeat Marky Mark for most times spied out and places hit during his time here. And no matter — he's still cooler than Jeff Daniels. But let me know when Michael Gambon and Colm Meaney get into town, too. They’re Foxx’s co-stars in this thing. And I think they’re both the dreamiest.
