10. “I Dream a Highway” — Gillian Welch

Only start this song if you have 15 minutes and love cool, steady bluegrass. Sentimental in mood and thought, Welch reminisces about prior lives and loves. Somehow this ridiculously long song doesn’t get old, even though it doesn’t change throughout its 15 minutes, proving Welch’s mastery of lamenting lyric and guitar-based melodies.
