8. “Broadripple is Burning”— Margot and the Nuclear So and Sos

A lonely, bored ballad detailing young life in Mid-Western suburbia. I feel like Diablo Cody could make a movie based on this song that perfectly captures the essence of broken youth. The Indianapolis-based band runs the gamut on indie pop, but this song seems like they made a post-success recording of something they wrote in high school.
