Trailer!: Jennifer's Body

(Warning: This is a red band trailer so be careful at work)

Look, I was one of those people that didn't like Juno. It left me cold and, frankly, very angry (and not because I always want to yell at Ellen Page to stand up straight because she's doing no favors to those fancy, red carpet gowns when she slouches. And not because I don't like Diablo Cody, who likes trash just as much as I do). But here was a golden opportunity to go into Apatow territory ' where a movie can make you laugh at a dick joke and then work its warming skills on your heart (awww!). But instead, it took a serious subject, told it in a snappy way and completely forgot to make any of the characters endearing or likable (barring Juno's parents, played by the always great J.K. Simmons and Allison Janney). C'mon, tell me you did not want to slap Juno everytime she opened her mouth? Bun in the oven or not.

Those feelings aside, I'm pumped as hell for Jennifer's Body. If you've ever read Molly Haskell's From Reverence to Rape: The Treatment of Women in the Movies (which you should read if you're at all interested in feminism, film or just want to put the smackdown on that boy who looks like Jabba the Hutt and who thinks he know EVERYTHING in your cinema studies' classes ' ahem), you've totally been waiting for a movie like this (or you already caught Teeth and know what's up). The trailer makes it look like a movie in which female sexuality is not a reason to be killed, but a reason to kill. I also think that the Cody's snap, crackle and pop writing will fit better in a genre picture and give her time to develop her style in a way that actually allows her to actually construct a character. I'm worried about director Karyn Kusama who rocked it when it came to Girl Fight but bombed the fuck out when it came to Aeon Flux. But even with Aeon Flux, she was able to make a completely female driven action movie and, let's be honest, making a movie about a weird ass MTV cartoon that aired a decade before the movie was stupid.

Plus, I'm a heterosexual female and I still want to bone Megan Fox.

What do you guys think?
