SHOWDOWN: Live music in Philly from April 9-15

POSTED: Monday, April 9, 2012, 12:00 PM

Thursday: Putting a slightly new spin on early '90s R&B and soul, Bad Rabbits (pictured) is rejuvenating the type of house-party music that would make Bobby Brown and Kid 'n Play proud. They completely go for it with bouncy bass lines, West Coast noodly synth lines and soulful vocals. 7 p.m., $12, The North Star Bar, 2639 Poplar Street, 215-787-0488. âž¤ Veterans from the school of new wave and post punk, Audio Kings of The Third World play a brand of spacey fuzz-rock with a pop structure, not unlike The Pixies and Joy Division. 8 p.m., $8, The M Room, 15 W. Girard, 215-739-5577.
