✚ Happy Birthday William S. Burroughs!

Feeling like a lazy Sunday at home? How bout picking up a copy of Naked Lunch, the seminal work
from b-day boy William S. Burroughs, who would be celebrating his 98th today. After hitting the
shelves in 1959, the book was banned in many states due to its (*gasp*) obscene language and sexual
content. In Boston, that decision was eventually reversed in a hearing that included testimony from
Burroughs' BFF, beat poet Allen Ginsberg. Although today's audiences might be slightly less shocked
by the antics of William Lee — a junkie and the book's main protagonist — Naked Lunch continues to be
one h**l of a read. Look for a copy at your local Free Library branch.
