It Gets Better

Rick Santorum's campaign has tried to keep a few things under the radar — the rumors about his wife playing hanky-panky with an abortion doctor, his lack of a full-grown neck, his barbaric views on homosexuality and, of course, his Google problem. Unfortunately for Santorum, Dan Savage — the incredibly witty sex columnist behind Savage Love — responding to the then-senator's comments comparing gay sex to bestiality and pedophilia, asked his loyal readers to come up with a specific sex-oriented term to redefine “santorum.” The result? A website dedicated to "The frothy mixture of lube and fecal matter that is sometimes the byproduct of anal sex." The term has been celebrated on the Daily Show and Colbert Report, and has had many newspaper headline writers gleefully punning about Satorum surging from behind in Alabama three-ways, for just one example. Some of Savage's slightly less vulgar accomplishments: Savage Love, which continues to inspire a more accepting view on alternative sexuality, and the “It Gets Better” project, a video campaign dedicated to helping at-risk gay youth. With a huge heart and enough sexual anecdotes to keep you giggling for days, Dan Savage is a speaker you don't want to miss.

8 p.m., free, Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts, 3680 Walnut St., upenn.edu.
