Calling all bookish singles!

Valentine's Day is approaching, and you still don't have a date. You're sick of the bar scene and online dating, but I bet you never thought of finding a date at ... the library! Welcome to Literary Speed Dating at the South Philly branch of the Free Library, where bookish singles become literary lovers. Participants are encouraged to bring a book — a favorite, something awful, or just one you want to discuss — to get those sparks flying. Make sure to pre-register with Tiffany at smithti@freelibrary.org, and remember, don't let anyone ever tell you a bookworm can't be sexy!

Refreshments at 5:30 p.m., speed dating at 6 p.m., free, South Philadelphia Branch of the Free Library, 1700 S. Broad St., freelibrary.org.
