Pussy Galore

Have you ever wondered why some cat owners are so incredibly obsess — er — dedicated to their pets? Photographer Katrina Ohstrom has made it her job to find out. In early September, she went to the TICA International Cat Show at the Convention Center and photographed proud feline-human pairs, resulting in a photo essay that might double as a collection of Christmas cards from your crazy aunt, but they illustrate an often-misunderstood and sometimes demonized (crazy cat ladies?) group of animal lovers. Cat Show Volume I is the first in a series of zines/minibooks she's making about the project, and you're invited to check it out tonight at The Wooden Shoe, South Street's only collectively owned, volunteer-run anarchist bookstore.

7 p.m., free, The Wooden Shoe, 704 South St., woodenshoebooks.com.
