StorySlam: The Ex-Files

If a bunch of roses and a romantic dinner is not your Valentine's cup of tea, the First Person Arts StorySlam offers a less-mushy alternative. The bi-monthly storytelling event has the theme “The Ex-Files” tonight, so it’ll be an evening of true tales about exes—wild or sweet, sad or hilarious—for a twist on the most romantic night of the year. You can just come to listen, or if you think you have what it takes, add your name at the door in hopes of being one of the 10 storytellers drawn and judged on a 10-point scale. The winner moves on to the Grand Slam, where monthly winners compete for the title of Best Storyteller in Philadelphia.

Doors at 7:30 p.m., slam starts at 8:30 p.m., $10, World Cafe Live, 3025 Walnut St., storyslams.firstpersonarts.org.
