Teengirl Fantasy

The wants and needs of teenagers remain some of the biggest mysteries to date, even for teens themselves. There's the dual desire to be both normal and different, the impulsive behavior and the trials and tribulations of beginning to navigate the adult world with minimal experience. Tonight at Giovanni's Room, you'll have a chance to indulge in all your juiciest teenage problems with two authors that give new pizzazz to the timeless subject of coming-of-age. Diane DeKelb-Rittenhouse's book Immortal Longings: A Vampire Novel hits all the hot topics—vampires, bisexuality and unrequited love—in a story full of twists and turns. In Leave No Footprints, Australian novelist J.D. Shaw chronicles the life of a confused heroine as she leaves her troubled past in search of a quieter life, only to find herself in the midst of a mysterious killing spree.  If you're a teen yourself, or just nostalgic for a juicy read, this is the night to whip out your diary, don your best friendship bracelet and celebrate the drama of growing up.

5:30 p.m., free, Giovanni's Room, 345 S. 12th St., giovannisroom.com/event
