King of Genes

As children, one of the first signs of philosophical development is the ability to ask, “Where did I come from?” Today, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania will spend a whole day exploring the subject, and I don't mean spilling the beans that the stork didn't drop you on the doorstep. In honor of Ancestry Day, the HSP will offer a full day of workshops to help you identify even the smallest leaves on your family tree. Included in the program is an explanation of ancestry.com — the world's largest family-history website — and an opportunity to learn more about HSP's own genealogical resources. This could be the Saturday you discover your great-grandmother was a countess or a cannibal.

9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m., $40, Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1300 Locust St., hsp.org/calendar/hsp-ancestry-day
