pizza with a side of poetry

Pizza and poetry may seem an unlikely pair, bur that's exactly what Milano's Pizza offers every first Tuesday of the month. Located in the heart of center city, the event is a chance to hear local literary talent while indulging in a delicious slice of 'za. Tonight's reading will feature Mytili Jagannathan, whose seamless blend of poetry and politics has earned her widespread recognition. Jagannathan utilizes questions as the driving force behind her poems, following lines of inquiry that guide listeners to new realizations. She shares the stage with local poet Eddie Hopley, who presents most of his work as small coffee-table books of drawings and words that often defy the rules of punctuation.

6 p.m., free, Milano's Pizza, second floor, 127 S. 10th St., milanophiladelphia.blogspot.com/
