Sensual Moms

Raised in a tight-knit Baltimore Jewish community, Samuel Gerson is eager to rid himself of his sheltered past. When new kid in town Dmitri Zilber befriends Sam, his mission of personal change becomes increasingly harder to realize. Dmitri is a Russian immigrant whose old-world aura and love for Dostoyevsky are quirky and intriguing to Sam. As their friendship grows, their lives become more and more connected, laying the groundwork for the powerful story of identity, violence, and loyalty that comprises Daniel Torday's new book The Sensualist. Tonight, Tire Fire Readings presents Torday, along with fellow authors Adam Levin and Jaime Fountaine for a night of reading and boozing at the South St. staple, Tattooed Mom.

6 pm, free, Tattooed Mom, 530 South St., facebook.com/tattooedmomphilly

It's so sad that females have the horrible privilege of having good sex, posing, dancing, humiliating and (yes) marrying men for money. They should be very fortunate to be at the very top of the sexual hierarchy. If the thought of other women making use of their societal privileges upset them, they should go to a marriage counselor who might be able to provide ample reasons for them to remain married. Till then they should stop complaining.
