Kids leaving you frazzled? Trying to fight that 2:30 feeling? Try 5-hour energy, the drink that promises to jolt you into action with the help of guanine, taurine, and all those other “-ines” that may actually be the latin name for various strains of crack. Ranging in options from “decaf” to “extra-strength”, this stuff guarantees five entire hours of pure energy. If, however, you're one of those old-fashioned types who gets energy from, say, an exciting performance or a dynamic poetry reading, Manayunk's Spiral Bookcase is offering the au naturál energy alternative. Inspired by the 5-hour guarantee, the Bookcase has hand-selected a group of 12 high-energy individuals to provide five straight hours of comedy, music, storytelling and more. Featured energists include Kelly Morton with a lecture on Buddhism, Tim Graham with his one-man hit Ask a Libertarian, and Rob Baniewicz of the Meg & Rob sketch comedy duo. It's all the energy of the drink but with a few more laughs and a lot less FDA warnings.

5 p.m., free, The Spiral Bookcase, 112 Cotton St., thespiralbookcase.com.
