CURTAIN CALL: A booze-soaked shitshow fueled by illicit drug use

POSTED: Tuesday, February 14, 2012, 3:00 PM
Filed Under: Arts Theater

There’s no doubt about it: bridesmaids are having the best cultural moment ever. Pippa Middleton is more famous than Kate, Kristen Wiig’s raunchy comedy picked up Oscar noms and more locally, Luna Theater Company extended  its run of dark comedy Bachelorette. Recently made into a feature film that played at Sundance, the play follows three girls as they reunite in a bridal suite the night before their friend’s wedding. The gathering is fraught with complications from the beginning. All three girls are jealous that bride Becky has beat them to the altar, with added resentment that two of three didn't quite make the guest list. The bachelorette party quickly devolves into a booze-soaked shitshow fueled by illicit drug use that's as tragic as it is uproariously funny.

Through Feb. 18, $18-28, The Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom St., 866-811-4111, lunatheater.org.
