CURTAIN CALL: An attempt to stave off adulthood

If you’re aiming to make your honey hot for you this Valentine’s Day, ditch the dinner-and-a-movie date and pick up two tickets to Matchbox Theatre Project’s production of The Playdaters. In an effort to stave off adulthood, bromantic man-children Spencer and Erwin decide to make a game of mocking the singles who have turned to online dating. The goal is to find out who can pull the most outrageous prank on an unsuspecting date without her catching on.  The romantic hitch in this Apatow-esque comedy comes when Spencer realizes that a relationship might not be so bad. A stream of meta-theatrical hijinks and chaotic antics ensue. Your relationship is sure to look like a paragon of stability by comparison  —which means some heavy canoodling later on.

Feb. 14, 8:30 p.m. and 10 p.m., $10, Plays & Players Theatre, 1714 Delancey Place, matchboxtheatre.ticketleap.com.
