CURTAIN CALL: Our indie theater lookout for April 17-23

POSTED: Tuesday, April 17, 2012, 12:00 PM

To close a 2011-12 season celebrating the 100th birthday of playwright Tennessee Williams, South Camden Theatre Company turns to one of the Southern scribe’s deep cuts. One of Williams’ last critical and commercial successes, The Night of the Iguana is a steamy drama set south of the border. A disgraced reverend crippled by his sexual desires leads a group of tourists through Mexico, including a 16-year-old girl with whom he’s having sexual relations. As he develops an emotional relationship with a strong spinster, a strong cast of background characters (including a group of Nazi tourists) add stunning depth to Williams’ finest works.

April 20 to May 6, $15, 400 Jasper St., Camden, 1-866-811-4111, southcamdentheatre.org.
