CURTAIN CALL: Not your run-of-the-mill February love fests

With a spate of sexual abuse cases having recently dominated front page headlines, Fever Dream Repertory would be hard-pressed to find a better time to stage Beautiful Child. Middle-agers Nan and Harry are already struggling with an unhappy marriage when adult son Isaac (Rowan grad Peter Zielinski) returns to their suburban home with a bombshell: He’s in love with an eight-year-old student in his art class. Isaac now wants to return home, but his parents are fittingly unsettled by his confession and unsure about how to proceed. The following action promises to be rife with tension, which is rendered all the more potent by its startling topicality.

Through Feb. 4, $20-25, The Adrienne Theater, 2030 Sansom St., 267-997-3799.
