CURTAIN CALL: From Serio with love

POSTED: Tuesday, February 28, 2012, 1:00 PM

Each week, Michael Gold breezes past those big-name theater companies to turn a spotlight on Philly's indie stages.

Apparently, treading the boards doesn’t have to mean quitting one’s day job. That’s good news for local weather expert Sue Serio, who puts down the Fox-emblazoned mic and makes her professional theater debut in the suburbs this week. Serio stars opposite real-life hubby Bill Vargus in A.R. Gurney’s Love Letters, a Pulitzer-nominated drama depicting the genesis of a relationship through the use of the epistolary form. Serio and Vargus are just the latest real-life power couple to occupy the roles, adding another level to the play’s emotional pull.

Wed., Feb. 29-Sun., March 4, $30, Media Theatre, 104 E. State St., Media, 610-891-0100, mediatheatre.org.
