ICEPACK ILLUSTRATED: Eagles, Phoenixx, Rick Ross and artisinal frozen popsicles
Philly's fave new op-to-pop chanteuse (Okay, she's from Medford, NJ, but let's share huh?) Ginger Coyle is dropping her exquisite new Homeward Bound CD at Sigma Sound Studios May 12. Your host? Occupy-every thing that moves-comic N.A. Poe of course.

I’m not so sure this week’s liquor license announcement for the Pump House — I mean, the Live Arts/Fringe Center on Columbus Blvd with Nick Stuccio and Fergie as its heads — is news, as we announced this last August. But it’s fun.
The first Brewerytown Arts and Crafts Festival is May 12, noon-4 p.m. You can check out some of the artisans that organizers Priscilla Molina and Rob Hanlon gathered together here wgbabrewerytown.com or take my word for it and know that Andre Wright — a neighborhood guy running a youth athletics basketball mentoring program — is displaying, as is Kiki Hall of Diva Ears Arts and Bee Vintage.
Oh, meth. It makes a fool of us, especially those who deal it. This story tells a sad tale, especially when you consider that we know at least one of the ring’s high profile traffickers: Joseph “Phoenixx” Croxton — Ms. Phoenixx to ya’ll — whose mug shot is on DJ Shok’s site. I am hearing/seeing through the FB grapevine a whole lot of comments have been bitchily reveling in what may be considered a “gotcha” glad-yer-busted moment for Phoenixx, strong feelings for a guy who seemingly was happiest in heavy pancake make up. Remember though, drugs don’t need a dealer. They sell themselves. On a stranger note, I hear that Shok is trying to sell a bunch of techno-disco that he recorded with Phoenixx way long ago. Cute.
Daisy Dukes contests. Mechanical bulls. Yeehah, right? That’s Johnny Utah’s is all about. The big U is finally hunkering down on the 400 block of N. Third Street starting Thursday night. Giddy up.
Though there are a lot of couture foods and fooderies that I might find fault with (despite the glory that is Underdogs, I’m still uncomfortable about designer hot dogs), I’m tickled ice pink about Lil’ Pop Shop. The 44th and Spruce eatery is an artisinal frozen popsicle shop with flavors, so far, like Peanut Butter Curry, Cherry Lambic and Strawberry Rhubarb Lemonade. Yes, I approve — anything in a popsicle. Hell, meth in a popsicle is good.
For you VIPs with bottle service ducats to spare, it’s a two-lounge opening weekend. The Cool Kids and the Brend Bring’em/DJ Aktive team have a piece of the Industry XIX clubhouse/membership-mostly spot at 1904 Chestnut St. that’s popping on May 11 (they’re planning a restaurant spot in the club complex). Also up-and-running for the slim lapel crowd is Aura Lounge at 628 N. Front across from the Z-Bar/Delilah’s complex and on the other side of Spring Garden this weekend. I’ll reserve real opinions until after I hit ’em up, but I must say I have a better feeling from the outset about Industry XIX.
Meanwhile, Old City’s 879 — Todd Herremans and Brent Celek’s place — just reopened their reconfigured lounge with scantily clad women and a bikini contest. Old City — never stop sweating!

The off-South Street Zen-Nor is no longer going to be a coffee-n-baked goods nook as planned. Instead, the hot spot that replaced Hoof + Fin (man that was awful) that replaced Gayle (man, that is missed) is serving French-Japanese fusion food as chef’d by a guy named Mike O’Mara of whom we know little, except that he plans a top notch chef’s table in his small-ish kitchen. Guy’s got guts. I like it. Look for a mid-May opening.
The Brooklyn-based Food Experiment sandwich competition blew through Philly at Underground Arts/Underground Eats over the weekend, leaving the breaded likes of The Jawn victorious to the audience and judges (which included Zahav’s Michael Solomonov, Tony Luke Jr. and DiBruno’s Emilio Mignucci) alike and contestants such as She Blinded Me with Sandwiches looking fun and cute in their piggie outfits.
Happy birthday to Tiberino family doyenne Ellen Toberino who celebrates such with a solo exhibition of her wares at Vintage Wine Bar starting tonight May 10.
WHOWHATWHERE: Meek Mills is having a good week: a 25th birthday party at Union Transfer where Wale and label boss Rick Ross (who gifted the Philly rapper with a Range Rover) showed, a new mixtape Dreamchasers 2 that was so download-desired it blew up its server, a release date for his WB/Mayback artist debut, Dreams and Nightmares, on Aug. 28. Bill Murray and his son Luke took in a Sixers/Bulls game sitting in Ed Snider’s private suite at Wells Fargo Center, had a pre-baller meal at Jones then hit up Square Pegs the next afternoon for my fave food at Matt Levin/Barry Gutin/Larry Cohen’s noshery: poutine. The second of the Art Alliance’s “Craft of...” tasting events welcomed Harshita Lohia and Mayank Bansal from the Chamong tea company in India. They gave a demonstration on brewing and serving fine Indian teas. Hounds of hellfire Behemoth stopped by FYE to wreak havoc and sign nice autographs for quiet fans. Right after finishing up their Star Trek conventioneering in Cherry Hill, Next Generation co-stars Patrick Stewart, Brett Spiner, LeVar Burton and Jonathan Frakes supped together at Barclay Prime. Philly’s own Eve packed Kung Fu Necktie for a party with Reebok and Complex magazine. The-filmed-for-promotional-purposes party had its share of drama when an exposed Eve nipple nearly popped through her red camisole. Cooler heads took charge (the girls in the front row) and Eve covered up quick like. Speaking of KFN, the dance-gods of Electric Guest wowed an audience of invited “guests” at Radio 104.5’s iHeart Radio Performance Theater in Bala Cynwyd. A few days later, the power popping Eve 6 (no relation to Eve) stopped by the same Bala studios before playing the Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party at the Piazza at Schmidt’s with Neon Trees.
