LOL WITH IT: Philly Sketch Fest's Characters @ Helium Comedy Club

Every Friday, Ryan Carey covers the people and events that are giving Philly the giggles.

On Wednesday, Philly Sketchfest will present "Characters," hosted by Blangalangalang and DJ Footie-Pajamas. The show will feature some of Philly Sketchfest's most notorious personalities, including Bing Supernova, Fastball Pitcher Bob Gutierrez, The Feeko Brothers, Rob Baniewicz and Hillary Rea.

Bing Supernova is especially excited for the event: "They will truly be able to call this Wednesday 'Hump Day' because I will be slaughtering a live camel onstage. Bring a tarp!"

Philly Sketchfest co-founder and Animosity Pierre half-ling Dave Terruso says about the fundraiser, "The one rule of the show is that everybody has to stay in character for the entire show. Nobody gets to be him or herself until the final bow. I came up with the idea when I realized no one likes me when I'm just being me."

Each year, Philly Sketchfest chooses a local charity to partner with. In the past, it has donated proceeds to the Tays-Sach's Alliance and Philadelphia Young Playwrights. This year, however, they're seeking another active arts-related charity to partner with for its fifth annual November festival. If you're involved in the Philly Arts community and are interested in helping promote this year's Philly Sketchfest while raising money for your organization, please contact co-founder Matt Lally.

In the meantime, Wednesday's show is a certifiable LOL WITH IT CAN'T MISS (certification void on Android or Linux OS). Fastball Pitcher Bob Guitierrex is fresh off his endorsements of Narragasnsett Ales, which you can check out below. Says Gutierrez, "I'm really excited about this show at Helium, there! I've been led to believe that the vegetable tray in the green room is gratis, so it'll be a great night!"
