The Fabric Workshop and Museum presents "Soft Village: Studio Makkink & Bey," an innovative art exhibit on display until late spring that's sure to make you reconsider everything you thought you knew about textiles and wooden crates. Studio Makkink & Bey, founded by architect Rianne Makkink and designer Jurgen Bey from the Netherlands, aims to explore the relationships between humans and the inanimate, and between private and public spheres. Featuring pieces such as Soft News, Dust Cabinet and Vacuum Cleaner Chair, Makkink and Bey excel in morphing the line between ordinary and extraordinary. This exhibit opens on Friday evening, with a special artist talk with Bey.

Opening reception, Fri., Feb. 3, 6-8 p.m., free, through spring, $3, The Fabric Workshop and Museum, 1214 Arch St., 215-561-8888, fabricworkshopandmuseum.org.
