ON THE FRINGE: The Eros Trilogy

POSTED: Wednesday, September 14, 2011, 4:40 PM

More agape than eros, Nicky Silver’s three short plays produced by COLO Creations explore love and longing through four lonely characters. Nicole Gerenyi’s production downplays Silver’s dark comedy, preferring honest emotions, even while the first monologue, “Claire,” skewers sidewalk spitters. Kimberly Fairbanks and Will Windsor Erwin, in “Phillip,” reveal damaged characters searching for affection, then play mother and son through a 23-year exchange of letters in “Roger and Miriam.” We never glean why they don’t just pick up the phone, but their confessional letters reveal a loving and lovely long-distance relationship as both gradually grow up.

Through Sept. 14, Skinner Studio at Plays & Players, 1714 Delancey St., MORE INFO HERE.
