ON THE FRINGE: Checking Out

POSTED: Wednesday, September 14, 2011, 4:00 PM

Performed across three sets, Checking Out is a sort of theatrical sitcom. It tells the story of a recent college grad’s quest to win the heart of his fellow grocery-store clerk. The Seinfeldian plot hinges on a little lie the young man tells her: that his brother is dying of liver cancer. Affable lead actor Corey Holland carries the show as an awkward everyman who dreams of becoming a standup comic; he’s reminiscent of Michael Cera on speed. And that's very funny.

Through Sept. 18, $12, William Way Community Center, 1315 Spruce St., MORE INFO HERE.
