SHOPPING WATCH: Recapping the Art Star Craft Bazaar

The eight annual Art Star Craft Bazaar took over Penn’s Landing this weekend and, naturally, it rained. That didn’t stop tons of people from coming out to enjoy music, food, crafts, though. In case you didn’t get a chance to stop by, you can still order homemade goodies from pretty much all of the vendors that participated. Here’s my top six (cause five simply wasn’t enough):

MALAGUETA:

I’m so in love with these funky, hand-worked clothing designs. The appliqué and embroidery add the homemade touches every crafter goes wild for, but these pieces are totally wearable and look super comfortable and colorful. web.me.com/malagueta

INEDIBLE JEWELRY:

Bikini season looms upon us, so resist cramming that cupcake in your face and wear it around your neck, instead. Or perhaps a margarita is more your style. What about s’mores? Whatever your poison, these little jewelry pieces come in the shape of any food you can imagine, and they are positively adorable. Too bad the damn things are, in fact, inedible. www.etsy.com/shop/inediblejewelry

CUTESY BUT NOT CUTESY/HORRIBLE ADORABLES:

Like the name says, these things are utterly cute, but aren’t, really. They are monstrous. Still, aww! I can’t imagine a cooler kid than the one who has a few of these bad boys in his or her room. Not to mention Diane Koss’ workmanship on these plush toys is pretty impressive. etsy.com/shop/dkoss2

Same goes for Horrible Adorables. Potentially not as cuddly, sure, but they truly manage to make you squeal with delight and recoil in horror at the same time. Plus, you can’t mount their heads on your wall. You weirdo. jordan-elise.com

SINGLE HAND INK:

Philly artist M. Cathleen White hand spray-paints these one-of-a-kind masterpieces. They look simply top-of-the-line, with an urban twist. I wouldn’t want to hide them in my purse. facebook.com/singlehandedink

CHEZ SUCRE CHEZ:

Let a combination of old and new grace your walls: these needlework and cross-stitched pieces showcase initials and designs, but a few are emblazoned with modern song lyrics. How I’d love to see some Wu Tang words on a needlepoint. chezsucrechez.com

TWIG TERRARIUMS:

Perhaps the most talked about at the bazaar, these weird little displays are sure to start some conversation, whether you put them in your own home or give them as a gift. They call the creations “Easily contained, easily maintained life.” Way to branch out. twigterrariums.com
