SHOWDOWN: Live music in Philly from April 16-22

POSTED: Monday, April 16, 2012, 1:00 PM

Wednesday: Going together like peanut butter and chocolate, Montana Skies (pictured) is a guitar-and-cello duo that rocks out experimental flamenco with rock/pop qualities. They come up with arrangements that are sweeping and orchestral and consist of fingerstyle guitar picking and sizzling cello work that rivals the intensity of Rodrigo Y Gabriella. 7 p.m., Moonstone Arts Center, 110 S. 13th St., 215-735-9600. âž¤ Milwaukee band Surgeons in Heat are no jive turkeys. You’ll hear '70s R&B/rock on their self-titled album, with shades of the Temptations, Thin Lizzy and The Cars that make for a genuinely eclectic, retro experience. 9 p.m., $8, The Fire, 412 W. Girard Ave., 267-671-9298.
