SHOWDOWN: Live music in Philly from April 16-22

POSTED: Monday, April 16, 2012, 1:00 PM

Thursday: The always positive, never cynical and high-fiving Fang Island is an indie/math rock group out of Brooklyn with blisteringly epic songs that are structurally unpredictable. Their latest self-titled debut features a lot of palm-muted, distorted guitar and tricky time signatures. 9 p.m., $12, MilkBoy Philly, 1100 Chestnut St., 215-925-6455.
