SHOWDOWN: Live music in Philly from May 7-13

Tuesday: Coming over from their native Sweden, We Are Serenades is embarking on their first U.S. tour in support of their recent album Criminal Heaven, an instantly catchy dream-wave take on '80s synth-pop that is symphonic with healthy servings of guitar and strings mixed in to create a joyous and organic vibe. 9 p.m., $12, Johnny Brenda’s, 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 215-739-9684. ➤ Singer-songwriter and Philly folk artist Chris Grunwald released his latest album, The Secret in the Garden, last year under the moniker Griz (pictured). On the album, Griz shifts from reggae to rock to country in a cohesive manner that’s due in part to the overall summer time, easy-breezy vibe which stems from Grunwald’s warm and raspy vocals.  8 p.m., $8, The Blockley, 3801 Chestnut St., 215-222-1234
