SIDE-SPLITTER: Our top four comedy shows of the week

An outlandish character that audiences love is something all sketch comedians strive to create. Come see some of the best Philadelphia's sketch artists have to offer during the Characters show to raise money for the fifth annual Philly Sketch Fest to be held later this year. Bear witness to such creations as Bob Gutierrez, a former middle reliever for the Chicago Cubs turned motivational speaker, Bing Supernova, Philly's greatest (self-proclaimed) comedian, The Feeko Brothers and more.

Wed. April 11, 8 p.m., $15, Helium Comedy, 2031 Sansom St., 215-496-9001, philly-sketchfest.com.

Have a comedy show you think could crack Al's list? Email him the deets (and maybe a video clip) to al.harris@citypaper.net or tweet him @journalismo.

I went to see We're Matt Weir last night and I am 100% not lying when I say the Mayor Nutter was at the show - laughing. This place is seriously underground and yet majorly awesome.
