“Hands On” at the Projects Gallery

I try to feature exhibits from all around town, but, Northern Liberties has been quite productive lately. Every time I walk around the neighborhood I seem to stumble across a new exhibit at an old favorite or an entirely new space. This week, I stopped by the Projects Gallery for a look at their current exhibition “Hands On,” a group show featuring works by thirteen Society of American Graphic Artists members.

The types of pieces in the show range from etching and woodcuts to lithographs, aquatints and silkscreens, but all were created via processes of hand-pressing (hence “Hands On”). Steven Walker’s Composition in Red and Blue and Ellen Nathan Singer’s At the Window are among my favorites. The textures in all of the works made me want to get my hands in there and touch them (don’t worry, I resisted).

Through Feb. 25, free, Projects Gallery, 629 N. Second St., 267-303-9652, projectsgallery.com.
